During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, the federal government enacted an executive action that resulted in full coverage of the cost of COVID-19 testing and COVID vaccinations. If you received testing or vaccinations for COVID from UAB Medicine, there may have been no financial impact to you. On May 11, 2023, the Public Health Emergency came to an end and that fee coverage has changed.
Testing and vaccinations for COVID are no longer provided for free unless your insurance plan covers those charges. There are several charges that may now apply: the cost of the medication or test itself and the cost of the service provided by our medical professionals and laboratory. Please reach out to your insurance plan provider for more information as to what charges you will be responsible for.
