DAISY Winner - Teri Killough, RN

Congratulations to this month’s winner: Teri Killough, RN! What makes Teri a DAISY winner?

“I’m a nurse in the COVID ICU. During January and February of this year, we had a few nurses from the Continuing Care Nursery (CCN) come and help us out. One of the nurses was Teri Killough. Their home unit wasn’t as busy as usual, so instead of accepting fewer work hours on their unit, they came to help on our unit. Because we are an ICU, they weren’t allowed to take patients, pass medications, etc. Instead, they helped us prone, bathe, and turn patients, and were always there to grab any supplies we needed when we were unable to come out of a patient’s room since we were in full PPE. She and her coworkers were a huge help and always did so with a smile. We were so grateful for their support during such unimaginable times.

Sadly, our COVID ICU is full once again. The CCN currently nurses have their hands full too. However, Teri and her fellow CCN nurses donated their own money and took the time to personally deliver snacks and food to us to make our workdays a little better. Even though they can’t be there physically to help us fight this fight, Teri and the CCN nurses went out of their way to show that they are supporting us through the tough times once again. Teri’s compassion and dedication to supporting fellow nurses should be recognized. Her efforts have made days in the COVID ICU a little more bearable, and I feel lucky that our paths crossed during such a difficult time.”
