UAB Medicine Chief Nursing Officer Named Among Alabama’s Top Nurses

UAB Medicine chief nursing officer and senior associate vice president Terri Poe was named one of Alabama’s top nurses. The recognition, officially called 10 Top Nurses of Alabama 2020, was part of an effort by the news site This Is Alabama to honor health care leaders across the state.

Poe began her career at UAB in 1986, and since that time she earned a doctorate in nursing, became UAB Hospital’s CNO, and was appointed assistant dean for nursing practice at the UAB School of Nursing.

Poe is a tireless, cheerful advocate for teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration, and she promotes advanced nursing procedures and strategic goals to improve patient outcomes. Her efforts have helped make UAB the only nationally recognized, Magnet-accredited hospital in Alabama.

To determine the 10 recipients of the honor, This Is Alabama gathered nominations from patients, health care professionals, and nurses statewide. A panel of health care leaders and the Alabama State Nurses Association made their selections from the nominations. Nominees and winners were honored at the Top Nurses live and digital events this past September. Click here to see a video of the live event.
