UAB Medicine Observes Heart Month 2020

February is American Heart Month, an annual observance designed to increase awareness about heart disease, which is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. Each year, one in four deaths is caused by heart disease, according to the American Heart Association. Fortunately, almost 80 percent of heart disease cases can be prevented when people make healthier choices and manage their medical conditions.

UAB Medicine is a consistent advocate of heart health and supports Heart Month 2020 with a variety of educational and awareness events that are free and open to the public.

National Wear Red Day

Go Red for Women® is the American Heart Association’s national movement to end heart disease and stroke in women. Show your support for this movement by wearing red on Friday, Feb. 7, and join UAB Medicine in the fight against the No. 1 killer of women.
